I intercepted the mountaineers about halfway up the rock, which was covered in soft moss. They welcomed me to their party and said that they would be delighted to take me to my hosts the McNamaras, but first wanted to play in the forest for a while. They offered to show me the salient points of the forest; I accepted gratefully.
